Hi! Happy Sunday Tuesday,

To start, an apology for missing so many weeks and also a big thanks to members who reached out. For some time, I have been full on personal basket - I got married and, as many know, Indian marriage is a lengthy affair. Also, I recently switched jobs to move into a more challenging role at Voosh that puts excellent test to my product skills. However, be rest assured, I am back in full action and plan to write without a break.

This newsletter summarizes the best reads from 100+ articles I go through every week with the sole purpose of helping you become better at product with minimal effort. Subscribe!!

What does 2022 hold for product management?

Year start lists always excite me as it gives me to think fresh and give me a look into what the future can be. I regularly read these lists and explore the possibilities. Here, let’s explore the product in 2022. Continue reading..

Key Take-aways:
  • Scrum and Agile with a capital “A” are increasingly less popular than they were 5 years ago

  • The rise of product discovery as a specialist skill

  • The rise of low code/no code platforms

The Atomic Network

Network effect in Product gone right is a wish come true for any product manager. Many were able to do wonders and create an amazing business. Here, we look into the gist of a chapter from the book, “The Cold Start Problem” and learn about the basic unit of a network. Continue reading..

Key Take-aways:
  • If you can create a small, stable, engaged network that can self-sustain—an atomic network—then likely you can build a second network

  • The networked product should be launched in its simplest viable form—not fully featured—so that it has a dead simple value proposition

  • In Slack’s case, the atomic network turned out to be pretty small, just the team. Contrast that to the credit card, which needed to launch in an entire city

Measure the progress of OKRs using Leading and Lagging Indicators

I have read about leading and lagging metrics multiple times and I acknowledge their importance. But what I could not grasp is how to measure leading metrics and lagging metrics and making them the logical part of my job. Continue reading..

Key Take-aways:
  • The most significant benefit of setting goals comes from regularly checking in on your progress and adjusting your actions accordingly.

  • A challenge when identifying leading indicators is balancing certainty about indicators at a company level with responsiveness to team actions

  • Considering actions and behaviors from stakeholders or team members can produce ideas for leading indicators much more quickly.

Proven User Adoption Strategies To Drive Product Adoption

Adoption strategies are a constant reminder of what we shall do to onboard users. As we move to a product focused world, adoption becomes the most important part to get the new customers to feel they need the product. Continue reading..

Key Take-aways:
  • Your product is continuously evolving. So, your onboarding must be continual too. This goes for existing customers, too.

  • To ensure you provide the best possible onboarding process, you can use the C.A.R.E Model.

  • Bombarding new users with lots of information, such as everything you ship, can actually be the reason you lose customers

The 4 Stages of 0->1 Products

For the past couple of months, I have been working on 0→1 product at a startup and it’s crazy to find that most of the ideas we come up with actually don’t work. We are constantly going into the market, collecting feedback, and pivoting. Articles such as this guide me on what to do next. Continue reading..

Key Take-aways:
  • Successful 0->1 products don’t arrive into the world fully formed. Like humans, products go through different life stages.

  • Describe what people will do differently if your product is wildly successful

  • Define good hypotheses and get to conclusive results on those hypotheses as quickly as possible.
